Ashtanga Yoga 3-Part Series

Ashtanga yoga is a set sequence of yoga postures linked together with pranayama (breath work) and vinyasas (flow) to build heat in the body. This is a dynamic and athletic form of yoga that has proven very effective in building strength and toning the body. The practice itself is a moving meditation promoting mental and emotional balance.
The Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga workshop is a 3-part series that will introduce key principles for the Primary Series including the opening mantra, breath work, warm up, standing and seated series, and energy locks. Each class will build up on the other and the third will be the climax of putting theory to practice.
If you are disciplined or want to cultivate more discipline in your day-to-day life this practice is an excellent tool to help you develop that muscle. The set sequence is also a great tool for measuring progress in your daily practice. No prior yoga experience is necessary, modifications will be offered, but not suggested for beginners.

Her goal as a teacher is to share the magic of the practice with her students and encourage personal growth and self-exploration.

Hi ClubWorx members! My name is Mel and I will be your new Registered Dietitian. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania with my Master’s in nutrition science, became a board-certified RD, and got my licensure in the state of North Carolina. At the club I will be hosting nutrition focused events and workshops, working with you one-on-one, and answering any questions you might have. My favorite workout class I have taken so far is N10C, and I enjoy lifting, hiking, and playing tennis. Aside from fitness and nutrition, I enjoy traveling, cooking, and baking. My favorite snack is toast with peanut butter and chia seeds, I seriously eat it every day. I love what I do because proper nutrition, along with other self-care habits, has the power to transform your life and make you feel better than you ever have before. I cannot wait to share my abundance of nutrition knowledge and expertise with you all!
